How to Meal Plan for Your Perdido Key Vacation

My advice on how to create meals when renting Perdido Key Condos

Starting off with the most important meal of the day. These are some of my favorite things to bring for breakfast. They travel well in a cooler, and some are so easy, everyone can fix what they want, like cereal, oatmeal, waffles etc. Even the frozen items stay frozen in the cooler.

Breakfast

Bacon

Biscuits

Cinnamon Rolls

Frozen Waffles

Cereal

Oatmeal

Pancake Mix

Tortillas for Breakfast Burritos – YUM.

Breakfast Sausage

You can always pick up a few fruits at the local grocery store

Lunch

Lunch can be super simple. For us we would pretty much bring sandwich items, and a few snacks.

Here are some items which I have found to be great for lunches.

-Sandwich “Fixings” – the easiest way to do it, bread, lunch meats, and your favorite condiments

-Mac n’ Cheese- super easy to prep, you can even buy it in microwaveable cups now

- Hot Dogs – again, super easy to prep and just add your favorite condiments

-Hamburgers – Most of our resorts have charcoal grills on site, so just buy the meat when you arrive and grill them just a few feet from your condo! Or you can choose the easier method, in a skillet.

-Chili Cheese Fries – Just grab a bag of frozen French fries; pop them in the oven, and heat up a can of chili on the stove, if you prefer to make your own then go for it! Just throw on some cheese and enjoy!

-Soup – I can already hear the groans of children everywhere, but trust me, soup is a life saver. I like to buy the bags of the Cheese and Broccoli Soup mix and just grab a loaf of French bread, so simple and delicious.

- Chicken Tenders – They sell them in huge family size bags. You know where they are. Grab them! Kids seem to think these are the only things worth eating on the planet.

Of course you can simplify it even more by grabbing lunch for everyone. It can get a little pricey but there are tons of casual dining spots near Perdido Key condos for all tastes and budgets.

Dinner

A lot of people like to dine out for dinner here in Perdido Key, and that’s wonderful. If you have the time and means to eat out every night, go for it! I’ll admit we do like to go out a few nights to treat ourselves…but not every night.

Here are some of my favorite dinners to cook while we stay in a condo.

-Lasagna – Any frozen dinner works for me. Just steam a few veggies in the microwave and maybe slice up some French bread and you’re done.

-Tacos – The lifesaver we all know too well. You know the drill. Some ground beef, tortilla shells, a little lettuce, and some cheese. Heck, you’ve got this.

-Hot Dogs or Hamburgers work here too.

-Soup – Again, yes I know, soup is doesn’t sound the most appetizing to the younger crowd.  Just pick one that you know that they won’t mind eating, grab some bread or crackers. Boom, dinner.

-Baked Chicken – A few chicken breasts, some seasoning, into the oven with some veggies and potatoes. Easy as pie…or chicken.

Dining out – You can definitely dine out once or twice if you can. Check out our blog page for our Top 10 Restaurants to Visit While You’re Here in Perdido Key. My favorite is Hub Stacey’s.

Snacks

More simple than you think.. We would just grab things we like to nibble on in between meals.

-Chips, Pretzels, Crackers etc

-String Cheese or Mini Cheese Wheels

-Fruit Salad – You can either buy a big tray from the store or make one before you leave or while you’re here.

-Fruit Snacks

-Granola Bars

-Peanuts, Pistachios, Cashews Etc

Things To Buy Once You’re Here

Some items don’t travel so well in a cooler and in my opinion, you should buy them here.

-Meats – Hot Dogs would probably be fine to bring on your own, but any kind of beef or chicken I recommend picking up at our local grocery stores.

-Milk/Dairy Items

-Eggs – for obvious travel reasons

-Cheese – Would probably be ok to travel with, but I would grab it here to save room.

-Fruits and veggies
